He concentrates on corporate planning and structuring in the health care field including HIPAA and Medicare compliance, third-party insurance, and Medicare audit defense for clients.
Kent has structured more than 20 health care physical therapy rehabilitation networks throughout the United States. He negotiated and implemented service arrangements and joint ventures between hospitals and rehabilitation therapy companies. Additionally, he has been actively involved in healthcare mergers and acquisitions. Typically, these involve rehabilitation companies in the physical therapy field being acquired by similar private corporations or publicly held health corporations. Kent is experienced in representing both sellers and buyers in separate acquisition transactions; he generally represents the successor company in a merger of practices. Kent has also been engaged by law firms and companies seeking to acquire rehabilitation practices or entities to assist in due diligence work pending an acquisition.
Kent has provided legal services for numerous physical therapy trade associations including the American Physical Therapy Association (including legislative planning for at least 25 chapters of the American Physical Therapy Association); the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy, and the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association. Kent has also represented the Foundation for Physical Therapy. He represents and has represented numerous corporate, private health care practices in Alaska, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Washington, and West Virginia.
