Humane Action Pittsburgh is honoring three people who helped to write or enact legislation that improves the lives of animals. Pittsburgh City Council President Bruce A. Kraus and attorneys David J. Mongillo and Albert Lee will be honored at a dinner and reception Tuesday, January 17, 2017.
Mr. Kraus will be honored as Legislator of the Year “for his leadership, commitment to animal well-being and introduction of the Puppy Mill ordinances,” according to the news release from Humane Action Pittsburgh.
The puppy mill bill approved by Pittsburgh Council in 2015 prohibits the sale of dogs, cats and rabbits in pet stores unless they come from a shelter or rescue.
David donates his services to write and rewrite proposed legislation, including the puppy mill ordinance. Albert helps the organization advance animal protection with legislative action.
