Timothy S. Searer
Judge Timothy Searer served as the President Judge in the Mifflin County Court of Common Pleas from 1994 – 2013, where he handled a wide variety of cases in all court divisions including Civil, Criminal, Family and Orphans Court in addition to his responsibilities for the court’s administration.
While on the bench, Tim demonstrated his knowledge of established legal principles and procedures. His ability to interpret and apply them to specific factual situations is well documented. His appellate record on the small percentage of decisions from which appeals had been taken is excellent. His decisions and sentences in criminal matters have never been reversed. Appellate courts have commented in their opinions about the thorough manner in which he has analyzed the issues and disposed of the cases appealed to their courts.
In the administrative area, his implementation of innovative alternative resolution programs has provided litigants with timely opportunities to efficiently resolve their controversies without long and contentious hearings.
Prior to joining the bench, Tim served as the District Attorney for Mifflin County from 1988- 1994; and was the County Solicitor from 1984 – 1988.

Articles and Presentations: Tim has regularly served as a panel member for programs of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the educational arm of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He has also assisted with the Advocacy Program at Penn State’s Dickinson School of Law.
Honors and Awards: Tim was the first judge from a county other than Centre to serve as Chief Administrative Judge of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s Administrative Unit #2. His appointment came from the 18 judges and 7 District Court Administrators in the Central Pennsylvania judicial districts comprising the Unit.
Memberships and Activities: Tim is a Member of the Mifflin County Bar Association and Pennsylvania Bar Association. He is also the Lt. Governor Elect, Division 11-E, for the Pennsylvania District of Kiwanis International, a Member and Past President of the Lewistown Kiwanis Club and a former Board Member of the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata.

Education and Background: Tim received his undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University and his Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law.
