Kristin A. Biedinger
Kristin is a shareholder and co-chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property and Technology practice group. Kristin’s practice includes all areas of intellectual property including patent and trademark prosecution, trade secret protection, copyright licensing and artist rights, software licensing, and other transactional matters. She works closely with clients to identify, evaluate, and protect new inventions and other intellectual property and regularly drafts freedom to operate and patentability opinions.
In addition to traditional intellectual property matters, Kristin regularly counsels clients on legal issues in emerging technologies, the Internet of Things (IoT), privacy and data security, and protecting confidential information in cloud-based IT environments.
Prior to joining Tucker Arensberg, Kristin worked as in-house counsel at a Pittsburgh-based chemical imaging company where she advised senior executives on wide range of legal issues. Kristin uses her in-house experience to work closely with corporate business teams and executives to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice. In this role, Kristin regularly advises clients on issues related to intellectual property portfolio management, strategy, audits, licensing and acquisitions, due diligence, and valuation. She also has experience counseling clients on issues related to export compliance and intellectual property rights in government contracts.
Kristin frequently speaks on intellectual property issues at continuing legal education courses and corporate training sessions and is a regular contributor to Tucker Arensberg’s blog.

Memberships and Activities: Kristin serves on the Advisory Board for the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), a global organization focused on healthcare IT.
Kristin is active in the Pittsburgh arts community and has served as a member of the Soiree Committee for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the Emerging Patrons Board of the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. Kristin has also served as a special awards judge for the Intel Science and Engineering Fair and has done pro bono work through Neighborhood Legal Services.
Jurisdictions: Kristin is a licensed patent attorney and is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and Pennsylvania state courts.
Education and Background: Kristin earned her Juris Doctor degree from Duquesne University School of Law. She also completed a clinical program offered by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania, was selected for the Louis L. Manderino Honor society, and was the recipient of the American Bar Association and the Bureau of National Affairs award for Achievement in the Study of Intellectual Property Law. She also served as Secretary for the Duquesne Intellectual Property Law Association and was a member of the Giles Sutherland Rich Memorial Moot Court team.
Kristin has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh, where she was named to the Dean’s List.
