Gary P. Hunt

Gary’s practice consists primarily of federal and state court litigation, arbitrations and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings. Much of his practice involves multi-party claims, including class action litigation. Gary has represented both individual and corporate clients in many different types of litigation and has an active mediation and arbitration practice.

Gary is a shareholder with the firm and has been a member of Tucker Arensberg, P.C. for more than 30 years. For ten years he served as the firm’s managing shareholder.

Honors and Awards: Gary was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America®. He has also been named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer by Philadelphia Magazine and Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Magazine. Gary is an elected member of The Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County which is the premier trial lawyer’s organization in Western Pennsylvania.  He is currently serving as the Co-Chair of the Trial Academy’s Long Range Planning Committee and was recently elected to the Academy’s Board of Directors.

In 2011 Gary was awarded the Allegheny County Bar Association Professionalism Award by the Civil Litigation Section.  In 2003 he received the Jane F. Hepting Pro Bono Award for his pro bono work representing a family of children in Juvenile Court proceedings.

Memberships and Activities:  Gary served as the President of the Allegheny County Bar Association as well as serving for six years on the Board of Governors of the Allegheny County Bar Association. Gary also served as the Chair of the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Civil Litigation Section and as the Chair of the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Managing Partner Forum. He served as Co-Chair of the ACBA Law Firm and Law Department Diversity Task force, and as Co-Chair of the Gender Equality Task Force.

Jurisdictions:  Gary is admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar and the Third and Fourth Circuit Courts of Appeal and has litigated claims in many states including New York, Ohio, West Virginia, New Jersey, Florida, Georgia, Connecticut, Michigan, California, Virginia, Delaware, Indiana, Missouri, Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and has served as an arbitrator privately and for the American Arbitration Association as well as a Special Master for the Court of Common Pleas, and in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Education and Background: Gary graduated from the University of Notre Dame and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, cum laude, where he was also a member of the Law Review and was named a member of the Order of the Coif.  He has extensive training and experience in mediation and non-binding dispute resolution processes.
