Donald P. Eriksen
Don has practiced law for more than 40 years and concentrates on matters relating to business transactions including sales and acquisitions, financing and the natural gas industry. He has more than 35 years of experience in all phases of oil and gas development including title matters, operations, production, sales, pipeline matters, financing, and mergers & acquisitions, as well as substantial experience with personal oil and gas investments. Don has a strong knowledge of the oil and gas business including field activities and has advised clients about both legal and operational issues. Recently, he advised owners of their rights in regard to pipeline rights of way and their rights to develop Marcellus Shale and other deep formations. He counsels clients on the economic benefits available to them, the legal protections to be sought and the field operations needed to drill and operate Marcellus Shale wells.
Areas of Practice: Don has been involved in matters relating to the formation, acquisition and equity financing of various businesses and properties including oil and gas, real estate projects and matters relating to securities laws as they relate to private placements.
Honors and Awards: Don was awarded an AV® rating in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, which is the highest rating for legal ability and ethical standards awarded by this national directory of lawyers. He was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® from 2006 to 2012 in the Natural Resources Law and Oil and Gas Law categories

Education and Background: After graduating in 1964 from Princeton University with a degree in physics and working at Westinghouse Research and Development Laboratory for two years, Don obtained his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh in 1969. He was a member of the editorial board of the Law Review and the Order of the Coif.
