Paul J. Welk
Paul is a member of the firm's
Business and Finance Group. He focuses his practice in the areas of business
and corporate law and healthcare law. In this capacity, Paul represents
physical therapists, physicians, dentists, not-for-profit organizations,
professional organizations, closely held corporations and other healthcare
providers. He regularly advises clients on issues related to mergers and
acquisitions, regulatory compliance matters, contract negotiation, risk
management, and other related corporate and healthcare matters.
Paul is a licensed physical therapist
in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and continues to provide physical therapy
services on a limited basis in the acute care setting. Prior to joining Tucker
Arensberg, he served as assistant counsel for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Paul is a member of the American and
Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Associations and currently serves on the American
Physical Therapy Association Committee on Risk Management and Member Benefits as
well as the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association Legislative Committee.
He is the Coordinator of the Positive Action Committee of the Southwest District
of the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association. Paul is an adjunct instructor at the St. Francis University School of Physical Therapy.
Paul received his Bachelor of Science
and Master of Physical Therapy degrees with honors from Duquesne University and
his law degree with honors from the University of Pittsburgh. He served as
associate editor of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law Journal of Law
and Commerce and received the CALI Excellence for the Future and Esther F.
Teplitz Awards for academic performance in the health law curriculum. Paul is a
graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law's Health Law Certificate
Program. He is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and is a member of the
Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Bar Associations.
