Lee C. Swartz
Lee C. Swartz is a
shareholder with the firm. Lee concentrates his practice on civil litigation
with an emphasis on commercial law and personal injury. He has been a frequent
lecturer on the law of evidence, automobile insurance and general negligence law
with the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and numerous bar associations throughout
Pennsylvania and the United States and is past president of the Pennsylvania Bar
Institute. He has taught products liability law in law school and was a member
of the consultative group of the American Law Institute Restatement of Products
Liability, and has been a co-author of two books on automobile insurance and
evidence and numerous legal articles. As one of the first lawyers to be
certified as a civil trial advocate of the National Board of Trial Advocacy, he
is the State Coordinator of that certifying institution.
Lee has received numerous awards from the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the
Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association of which he is a past president. He was
selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® for 2006, 2007
and 2008 in
the Personal Injury Law category and has been listed in the directory for over
25
consecutive years. He was also named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer for Plaintiff
Personal Injury for 2006, 2007 and 2008
Leehas had extensive involvement in continuing legal education as a past
chairman and board member of the CLE boards of the Association of Trial Lawyers
of America. He is currently the Chairman of the Civil Instructions
Subcommittee of the Supreme Court Committee for Suggested Standard Jury
Instructions and a member of the Supreme Court Committee on Evidence Rules.
In addition to his legal activities, Lee has been very active in services to the
community including various cultural and civic organizations. As a corollary to
his practice in civil litigation, Lee has developed into his practice
experience in representing musicians in the entertainment industry and promoting
musical events. His article "The Development and Operation of a Jazz Society"
has received national recognition and has served as a blueprint for the
formation of a number of non-profit arts organizations.
Lee is a lifelong resident of Harrisburg. He received his undergraduate degree
from Albright College in 1958 and his law degree from the Dickinson School of
Law in 1961.
