Barry K. Nelson
Mr. Nelson is an
attorney in the Business and Finance Department. Barry concentrates his practice
in the areas of commercial and corporate finance and corporate and business
matters.
Barry's commercial and corporate finance practice has primarily involved the
representation of financial institutions and borrowers in the documentation,
negotiation and closing of secured and unsecured loans, term and revolving
credit facilities, including asset based lending and limited and nonrecourse
loans. Secured loans have been supported by various types of collateral,
including mortgages of real property and leasehold interests, assignments of
rents and leases, pledges of stock, partnership interests and other investment
property and securities entitlements, and security interests in accounts,
inventory, equipment and other tangible and intangible personal property.
Barry's corporate and business practice has included the representation of
corporate clients ranging from small privately held companies to international
corporations with over $2 billion in annual sales. He has worked extensively in
a wide variety of matters, including mergers and acquisitions, financing, and
general contracts. He has experience in the documentation and negotiation of
distributorship relationships on both a national and international scope, and
from both a branded and private label product perspective.
Barry graduated from Allegheny College in 1998, with a B.A. in Environmental
Studies. While at Allegheny College he was a three-time recipient of the Alden
Scholar Award. He joined Tucker Arensberg after graduating, cum laude, from the
Duquesne University School of Law, in May 2001, where he was a member of the
Duquesne Law Review. While at Duquesne, Barry externed for Justice Ralph Cappy
of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
Barry is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the
Western District of Pennsylvania.
