

James
G. Morgan, Jr.
James G. Morgan began his career
as a litigator and Chief Deputy District Attorney in the Dauphin County
District Attorney’s office for seven years. He focuses on individual and
small businesses and gives representation to corporations and partnerships,
residential, and commercial real estate loans and construction loans, estate
planning and estate administration. He continues to litigate and handle
administrative practice before Administrative agencies and the Pennsylvania
Liquor Control Board.
Jim has participated in many
liquor control board issues having represented the Malt Beverage
Distributors Association of Pennsylvania for a number of years. He has
handled distributors transfers, retail restaurant liquor transfers and
hearings since 1975.
Jim has been the Solicitor for
the Clerk of Courts of Dauphin County since 1975, the Solicitor for the
Special Court Judges Association of Pennsylvania (Magisterial District
Judges) since 1970, Solicitor for the Prothonotaries and Clerks Association
of Pennsylvania since 1982 and Solicitor for the County Treasurer
Association.
Jim has instructed for the Minor
Judiciary Education Board since 1969. He is the Editor of The Journal of
the Special Court Judges Association in Pennsylvania, the monthly newsletter
for Magisterial District Judges since 1971. He has served on the Minor
Judiciary Rules Committee for the Supreme Court.
As Solicitor for the Special
Court Judges of Pennsylvania, he has handled issues before the legislature
including salary, benefits and direction of laws relating to their practice.
Jim was the Editor of the
Pennsylvania Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure 1975, 1977 and 1979
editions. He has lectured for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, Pennsylvania
Conference of Trial Judges, Special Court Judges Association and on all
aspects of criminal law and criminal procedure and civil rules of
Magisterial District Judges.
Jim is a member of the Dauphin
County, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations. He received his
undergraduate degree from Lehigh University in 1962. He was a First
Lieutenant in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1965 and received the
Air Force Commendation Medal in 1964. He received his law degree from
Dickinson School of Law in 1968. He served as a law clerk for two years to
the Honorable J. Dixon Herman in the Commonwealth Court and the Dauphin
County Court. He is admitted to the United States District Court for the
Eastern and Middle Districts in Pennsylvania, the Third Circuit and the
Pennsylvania Appellate Courts. Jim was selected by his peers for inclusion
in The Best Lawyers in America® 2006, and 2008 in the Commercial Litigation
Law category.
