Jonathan S. McAnney
Jonathan S. McAnney concentrates his practice in defense litigation and
has represented both insured and self-insured utilities, businesses, banks,
manufacturers, suppliers, retailers, and many other parties in state and
federal courts in Pennsylvania. Jon's practice includes representing
retailers in defending slip/trip and fall claims, parking lot claims,
inadequate lighting cases, falling merchandise cases, hazardous substance
and spill cases, customer assault cases, inadequate security cases,
elevator/escalator cases, shopping cart cases, ice and snow claims, and
slippery floor cases. Jon has handled numerous cases involving landlord
claims, parking lot maintenance, cases which are tendered to vendors, and
foreign objects in food cases.
Jon’s practice includes working with insurance carriers doing automobile and
general liability defense litigation. Jon has tried numerous arbitrations, jury
and non-jury trials in his over 20 years of experience as a trial attorney.
Among the clients who Jon has represented as defense counsel include a major
bank holding company, a regional public utility, multiple insurance carriers,
and large self-insured retailers.
Jon’s work for a major utility company has included defending them in
automobile accident claims, aerial cable cases, underground cable damage claims,
service interruption claims, trip and fall cases, and property damage cases.
During his years of representing the utility company, Jon has worked extensively
with many different field-employees for them covering all crafts including the
facilities construction, engineering, and service departments.
Jon has lectured to store managers and retailing executives on such issues as
conducting investigations, spoliation of evidence, and subrogation.
Jon is also a contributing author of a publication entitled Pennsylvania
Premises Liability.
He has an AV rating in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, which is the
highest rating for legal ability and ethical standards awarded by this national
directory of lawyers.
