Gary
J. Gushard
Mr. Gushard is a shareholder in the firm’s Business and Finance Department.
His practice is focused in the estates and trusts field as well as municipal
law and litigation.
Gary’s practice involves legal issues relating to geriatrics and mental health.
He receives referrals from social workers at numerous hospitals and nursing care
facilities relating to guardianships, powers of attorney, estate planning, and
medical assistance (Medicaid) qualification. He is a frequent speaker at
seminars for patients’ families sponsored by health care facilities and is a
past President of the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter of the Alzheimer’s
Association. Gary also serves on the Board of Directors for both the William
and Mildred Orr Compassionate Care Center and New Heritage, Inc.
As
solicitor for the Township of Pine, a rapidly developing community north of
Pittsburgh, much of Gary’s municipal practice involves land-use and zoning law
issues. He is also solicitor for the Armstrong-Indiana Intermediate Unit, the
provider of special education services to students in 11 school districts.
Gary’s litigation practice encompasses both plaintiff and defense work and has
included major toxic tort litigation, including asbestos and formaldehyde cases.
A
shareholder in the firm since 1986, Gary graduated from The Pennsylvania State
University and the Duquesne University School of Law. He is admitted to
practice in the state and federal courts of Pennsylvania, including the U.S.
District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the
Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations.
He was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best
Lawyers in America® 2007 in the Elder Law and
Municipal Law categories.
