Nora E. Gieg
Nora E. Gieg, an associate with
Tucker Arensberg, balances a diverse practice between the Insolvency &
Creditors' Rights and Estates & Trust practice groups. In the Insolvency and
Creditor's Rights area, Nora primarily focuses on the representation of
commercial creditors in the areas of bankruptcy, workout agreements and
insolvency in the state and federal court systems. In the Estates and
Trusts area, Nora assists in special needs and long term care planning.
Prior to joining the firm, Nora served as Assistant Counsel for the Pennsylvania
Department of Public Welfare, Office of General Counsel. As Assistant Counsel,
Nora represented the largest state agency before administrative, state and
federal courts in an array of diverse matters including guardianships,
employment disputes and issues surrounding eligibility, payment and
reimbursement under Pennsylvania’s Medical Assistance Program.
Nora obtained a B.A., summa cum
laude, along with Professional Translation and Latin American Studies
Certificates, from the University of Pittsburgh in 2002. Nora went on to
receive a J.D. and Community Services Award from the University of Pittsburgh
School of Law in 2005. While in law school, Nora clerked for the Pennsylvania
Department of Transportation’s Office of General Counsel and several small firms
while also actively volunteering for several organizations, including Allegheny
County’s Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program.
Nora is a member of the Allegheny
County, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations. Nora actively participates
in the Allegheny County Young Lawyer’s Division and Volunteer Initiatives.
Nora is admitted to practice before
the Pennsylvania State Courts and before the United States District Court for
the Western District of Pennsylvania.
