Jamie D. Aul
Jamie D. Aul, an attorney in the firm's Business and Finance Department,
concentrates her practice in the areas of Estate and Business Planning and
Corporate Taxation, as well as General Business.
Jamie
graduated in 1991 from Villanova University with a Bachelor's of Science in
Business Administration. She received her Juris Doctor from Duquesne University
in 1994, and her Master's of Science in Taxation from Duquesne University in
1998.
Jamie
has been a member of Tucker Arensberg's Estates and Trusts Group since 2006.
Jamie is responsible for the preparation of documentation related to estate and
business succession planning which includes wills, powers of attorney, revocable
and irrevocable trusts, private annuity analyses and supporting documentation,
and qualified personal residence trusts. Jamie has prepared and presented
training for seminars and in-house training on the Pennsylvania Uniform Trust
Act and Principal and Income Act as well as other general trust matters. Jamie
has represented clients in the formation of private foundations and application
to the IRS for tax exempt status and in estate administration and estate and
trust litigation matters.
In addition to her core practice in estate planning, Jamie also is involved in
corporate tax structuring and in the representation of clients with regard to
state and federal tax controversy matters.
Prior
to joining Tucker Arensberg, Jamie was a member of the Transaction Advisory
Services Department of Ernst & Young, where she focused on mergers,
acquisitions, tax due diligence, and corporate restructuring. Jamie also worked
in the Federal Corporate Tax Consulting Departments of both Ernst & Young and
Arthur Andersen. While at the "big four," Jamie performed work related to a wide
variety of tax transactions for both publicly and privately held corporations,
as well as consulting related to compliance with Section 404 of the
Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Jamie also assisted with tax controversy work before the
Internal Revenue Service and State taxing authorities. Her clients ranged from
closely held family businesses to Fortune 500 Companies. Before working in
public accounting, Jamie served as a law clerk for Judge Dan Pellegrini of the
Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania.
Jamie
is active in the community, serving as a volunteer for the bi-annual Galas
hosted by the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation, as well as the
Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium Foundation. She also served as Ernst & Young's
corporate chair of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk to Cure
Diabetes. Jamie is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association Taxation
Section, and the Allegheny County Tax Society.
