At their recent Season of Giving Gala 2013, the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh honored Gary Hunt.
Here is what they said about Gary
“Tonight’s honoree, Gary Hunt, has been a dedicated advocate and proponent of many programs during his 40 years with the Y.
Following graduation from law school, he became a member of the Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer Board of Governors and worked tirelessly through his role as Chairman of the Campership Committee to send hundreds of children to camp–children from financially challenged families who would otherwise have been unable to benefit from a life-changing camp experience.
A positive role model to so many, Gary’s service has left an indelible mark on the community. It was under his leadership that hundreds of children first experienced camp through the early days of Send Kids to Camp. In recent years, and with Gary’s continued involvement, the program has evolved to include children struggling with obesity, as well as children of active military and recent veterans. Gary also gave leadership to the acquisition of Camp Spencer-now home to the Spencer Super Stars–the only camp in Western Pennsylvania for adults with special needs.
In 1996 Gary was elected to the Association Board of Directors, served for two years as its chair, and continues to be an active volunteer. Throughout all the Y branches and camps, his wisdom, leadership and genuine commitment to helping others is evident as he remains a strong advocate for relevant, vital programs and safe facilities.”
Gary has been with Tucker Arensberg for more than 30 years; he served as the managing shareholder for the firm as well as practicing law. His practice focuses on commercial litigation, construction litigation, serious personal injury and wrongful death litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
We join with the YMCA of Pittsburgh in saluting a true community benefactor and leader.
